Zaid Alkhas Story...

Today's story join between the achievement unique to basketball, where the Jordanian youth team qualified for the World Cup in 1995 and here is the men's national team qualified for the 2010 World Cup after getting the bronze

The story told by Basketball star and Captain of the national team, Zaid AlKhas, who was elected one of the stars of young and men team

Captain Zaid AlKhas went back in memory where the Asian championship held in the Philippine capital of Manila during the period from 3-11 May, in the first round began to beat heavily on Hong Kong 71/24, and then to Singapore 88/35 and lost to South Korea 61/75 to settle in second place of the group

In the second round , our group included China, Philippines, Japan and the beginning was very difficult infront of Philippines as we won on them in the last second 72/71, and lost to China 49/88 before we achieve an easy win at the expense of Japan 73/56 and within it we have reached to the semi-finals

Samir Jankat Vice President of the federation and then President of the Jordanian delegation to the championship interfered: After the stunning win on the Philippines, I called the technical staff to the meeting immediately, and asked Murad Barakat Can you beat China tomorrow and he said "No....” I asked him to rest players against China the following day, even if lost by fifty points, to take advantage of physical inventory to Japan squad which will be stressful from the meeting with the Philippines, and was thus.. Philippines barely were able to reverse the result and won on Japan which lost morale with the physical inventory in front of our team

Zaid goes again to our play with South Korea, the tournament champion; we lost 51/69 to keep us a new opportunity to compete for the World Cup finals for the first time in the history of Jordan, the meeting for third and fourth places, which brought us to meet Thailand and have succeeded in crossing to Greece 62/56

Captain Alkhas, who was wearing Jersey number 13 continue his talking : The team that managed to win the bronze Asia in Manila included Maen Odeh, Ashraf Samara, Fadi Saqqa, Ehab Msseh, Mahmoud Shaaban, Samer El Niño, Ramsey Ghoneim, Raed Ghosheh, Saif Alda', Zaid Zu'mot, and Ziad Nagoj is the same that participated in the World Cup held in Greece during the period from 12-22 july

He adds: It is true that we went through eight meetings at the World Cup and have not been able to achieve any victory but we were proud of performance that we have made despite the fact that the period of preparation for the event was short and included only one camp. In the first round we went through three meetings with Italy and lost 64/87, and with the United States and lost 51/61, the third meeting , the result was double against Australia 35/78

In determining the centers, we met with the Asian champions South Korea and lost in front of 60/68, and then we met with Puerto Rico and the result was 68/87 and 53/81 against China, we met again with Italy 45/65 was finally the end of participation was with South Korea 61/69, and the best meeting for me was in front of Puerto Rico as I recorded 22 points during the meeting while the first meeting with South Korea was the most prominent for me as I recorded 20 points and successfully 16 follow-up, including seven offensive

Alkhas continued: For me personally, I came in the tournament ranked 19 in terms of scorers, scoring 115 points in the tournament at 4.14 points a game and I came rank fifth in terms of follow-up rate of observers 10 balls at the meeting, a balanced ratio between Recordings and follow-up defense 1,5 and 9,4 Offensive

But despite the achievement of 1995,Alkhas who was requested by the U.S. national team to a university there, consider that achievement of 2009 the most important in his career by reaching the World Cup finals for the first time with the men’s team and getting the bronze medal with a win of third place in the finals of Asia, which was held in China

Although the injury he suffered which made him absent from a number of meetings of the Asian Championship but more importantly, we reach the World Cup Turkey, which will be the last station in my career

And AlKhas said: Now we have rest before starting the preparation phase, which must be long-term include the camps with a high level and includes games with teams like universal France and Spain, after focusing on increasing fitness level
