وكان الرياضي الذي غاب عن منصة التتويج منذ موسم 2006 عندما كان وصيفا للبطل، والأرثوذكسي وصيف الموسم الماضي، قد تبادلا الفوز في المباراتين الأولى والثانية من الدور النهائي، حيث فاز الأرثوذكسي في أول مواجهة 80-79، ورد عليه الرياضي في الثانية 96-69
وعلى صعيد المنافسة المحتدمة على كأس الدوري بين زين حامل اللقب والعلوم التطبيقية الوافد الجديد على دوري الأضواء، فقد شهدت صالة الأمير حمزة في ساعة متأخرة من الليلة الماضية المواجهة الثالثة بين الفريقين، حيث سبق أن فاز التطبيقية في أولى مباريات الدور النهائي 67-65، ورد عليه زين بالفوز في ثاني المواجهات 77-73
ومن المفروض أن يكون الفائز في هذه المباراة قد اصبح على بعد خطوة من لقب الدوري الذي يحتاج بطله للفوز على خصمه 3 مرات في الدور النهائي، علما بأن الجولة الرابعة ستقام عند الساعة السادسة من مساء الجمعة المقبل

بداية غير موفقة للأرثوذكسي الذي كان هو البادئ بالتسجيل والتقدم 3-0 قبل أن تتلقى سلته 11 نقطة متتالية من الرياضي، فرضت على مساعد المدرب طلب وقت مستقطع مبكر، عاد بعده الفريق وتمكن من التسجيل وتقليص الفارق الى سلة واحدة مع نهاية الفترة 13-11 لصالح الرياضي
انخفاض معدل التسجيل كان نتاجا لسوء التركيز والذي لازم أداء المتنافسين، وفي الوقت الذي غاب فيه مدرب الأرثوذكسي لظروف خاصة تخلى مدرب الرياضي عن طلب وقت مستقطع، سيما وأن فريقه عاد لفرض سيطرته مع بداية الربع الثاني وتقدم 18-11، قبل أن يضطر لاستدعاء لاعبيه نتيجة تحسن أداء الأرثوذكسي والذي قلص الفارق الى نصف سلة 17-18
الرياضي وجد نفسه في موقف حرج عندما تقدم الأرثوذكسي 22-18 قبل 5 دقائق على انتصاف المباراة، وزاد الأمر احراجا مع ثلاثية البديل ناصر بسام الذي شكل دخوله تغييرا في شكل الأداء بعد تناغم واضح مع غازي النبر وعلي الدجاني وأيمن دعيس وابراهيم بسام، ليحين موعد الوقت المستقطع الثاني للرياضي
وبعد أن تقدم الأرثوذكسي بفارق 10 نقاط 32-22، قدم ايمن دعيس خدمة كبيرة للرياضي فارتكب الخطأ الشخصي الثالث واضطر للاستراحة، وخلال دقيقتين قلص الرياضي الفارق الى نصف سلة 32-31، وبهذه النتيجة انتصفت المباراة
واعتمدت تشكيلة الرياضي أكثر من اعتمدت على ثلاثيات وسام الصوص واختراقات عيسى كامل ويوسف الفقس وتمركز حسام لطفي وصني السكاكيني وهذا الأخير ادرك التعادل لفريقه 35-35 مطلع الربع الثالث
وارتفعت وتيرة الأداء بعد ان تبادل الفريقان التسجيل سلة بسلة، وسعى كل منهما لفرض ايقاعه على المجريات في الدقائق الحاسمة قبل نهاية الفترة، وأجبر صني السكاكيني أيمن دعيس على ارتكاب الخطأ الرابع والذي رافقه تقدم الرياضي بفارق 4 نقاط 45-41 قبل دقيقة من انطلاق الفترة الأخيرة
وحاول صانع العاب الأرثوذكسي البديل علي طالب تسريع ايقاع فريقه املا في خطف نقاط يقلص بها الفارق، إلا ان دفاع الرياضي كان حاضرا، فارتفع الفارق الى 7 نقاط 48-41
وفي الربع الأخير دخل الأرثوذكسي كالغريق الذي لا يخشى البلل، بيد ان استعجال لاعبيه جاء بنتائج عكسية، خصوصا وأن لاعب الرياضي مالك خشان نجح في التسجيل عبر الهجوم الخاطف، ليستعيد الأرثوذكسي تركيزه ويسجل النبر وفليفل ودعيس، ويكون الرد "المحدود" عبر الصوص والسكاكيني، والفارق يتقلص الى 4 نقاط 59-55
وجاء الوقت المستقطع للرياضي بنتيجة ايجابية حيث سجل الصوص من خارج المنطقة وحصل على الخطأ، وجاء الرد عن طريق دعيس وبسام ليعود الفارق الى 5 نقاط 64-59 قبل دقيقتين على النهاية
وبذل الأرثوذكسي جهدا مضنيا للعودة وتقليص الفارق بيد أن التصويبات المتسرعة لناصر بسام وأيمن دعيس ارتدت عن سلة الرياضي الذي تمكن من الفوز مع صافرة النهاية بنتيجة 68-62
