Old Timers Basketball League: Arab Potash Wins the Title..

CEC (Sajdi & Partners) 102-64 Jordan Hospital

It was apparent that both teams were disappointed not to be playing in the championship game as both teams deserved to, so the game started off slow as neither team was able to score 20 points in the first quarter which ended with CEC leading 17-14. Both teams stayed close until the last 4 minutes of the second quarter when CEC used a 13-0 run to take a 46-31 lead into halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, Jordan Hospital managed to score only 10 points compared to 27 points by CEC. Things remained the same in the fourth quarter as CEC scored 29 compared to 23 by Jordan Hospital giving CEC the third place and the highest scoring game of the league with 102 points.

Top Scorers:

CEC: Nihad Madi 27, Fawaz Shaikh 22, Fadi Saqqa 19
Jordan Hospital: Eyad Mohammad 21, Ahmad Bashir 14, Pat McCurry 13

Arab Potash 84-70 Gulf Oil

Gulf Oil came in as the favorites, having the best offense in the league and winning all 10 games they played so far, while Arab Potash were the underdogs as they barely advanced to the finals and having a record of 6 wins and 5 losses. But Arab Potash did have the best defense in the league, so it looks like it is true "offense wins games but defense wins championships".

The first quarter was even as both teams exchanged baskets till the last 2 minutes when Arab Potash used a 10-0 run to end the quarter leading 21-14. Gulf Oil started the second quarter in a good way, as they were able to tie the game 31-31 midway through the period but Arab Potash went on a run to regain the 7 points lead and go into halftime leading 44-37.

In the 3rd period, Gulf Oil were able to cut into the lead and even take a 5 point lead for themselves (59-54) but like the previous 2 quarters, Arab Potash were able to finish the period strong and go to the 4th and final period leading 60-59. In the final period, Arab Potash didn't wait till the end of the quarter to finish strong, they opened up a double digit lead early and then were able to use the clock wisely and withheld any attempt from Gulf Oil to finally win the game with a final score of 84-70

Top Scorers:
Gulf Oil: Ghazi Naber 37, Ziad Nabulsi 12, Luay Dajani 8
Arab Potash: Ramar Clash 25, Samer Qardan 24, Mustafa Ghool 20

Old Timers Basketball League: Second Semi Final Games

Arab Potash 79-70 CEC (Sajdi & Partners)

Wow, one of the best games of the second season, both teams came with their eyes on advancing to the championship game. That probably is why we had a low scoring 1st quarter. And even though Potash had an early lead 11-7 but CEC were able to finish the period up 14-13. In the second period, Arab Potash had their highest scoring period of the whole league with 28 points while CEC scored 22 points to go into halftime with Potash leading 41-36.

In the 3rd period, Arab Potash were able to increase their lead to 66-51 using their speed and quickness. The fourth quarter was the most exciting as CEC were able to hold Arab Potash scoreless for the first 5 minutes while scoring 11 points themselves to cut the lead down to 4 (66-62), but Arab Potash did not panic and they were able to outscore CEC 13-8 in the last five minutes of the game to win 79-70. Hats off for both teams for a wonderful semi-final.

Top scorers:
CEC: Fadi Saqqa 24, Sultan Abu Mariam 15, Nihad Madi 13
Arab Potash: Ramar Clash 27, Douglas Dye 18, Samer Qardan 17

Great Players in Old Timer Basketball League.. Faisal Nsour: The Reason For Keeping It Going

Ahli team was lucky enough to have a playmaker as great as Faisal Nsour was, whom helped the team winning the league and fighting against Orthodxi during the years

After Ahli Club has decided to stop Basketball Activities, it was time for Faisal to look for another team which needed a professional player, the type he was. He settled for Arena, Zain then Kulliyeh Team.

After that, he disappeared from the Basketball Court for a period of time but now he is back with his own idea and achievement of making people once again enjoying his playing along with other great players in a league calls Old Timer Basketball league, a league that everyone should go and watch it

So Thank you Faisal, for giving us the chance to enjoy seeing more great playing from our favorite great players, and from you on the top of that.

Basketball Court

I enter this huge court where the cold stings your hands in winter and the nice breeze refresh you in summer, but unfortunately it was empty.

Seeing it empty made me go back in time, go back with my sweet memories when I used to walk into that enormous room and couldn't find a place to sit. I started to remember the kids' playing and shouting; those little children with their innocent smiles waiting for that great game to start. I began to recall those proud parents and families counting the minutes even the seconds to see their boys writing history and achieving what has been achieved. All those sweet memories and all those cheerful moments were of a great and beautiful game called "basketball" played in this outstanding court.

This basketball court filled our life with challenges, action, joy and excitement. Generations after generations have grown up going to this same court cheering for their favorite teams and their great players; I know I did.. But sadly, no such days exist anymore. An empty court and tepid feelings are all we get now.

I might just be a fan of this great game but I'm a hurting fan who wishes those days come back once again, wishes this court beat with life again, and wishes for new generations that love the game the way we used to.. Hope one day things will work out for a better future, better games and better days where once again Jordanian Basketball will have its prints on the game and will regain its fame.

Zain, which is playing in Group C guarantee reaching the second round after he beat the hills of Yemen in the opening match 88/57.

Zain 85 – Manama 77

Zain defense appeared disjointed, had a consecutive balls by the three Manama-based Johnny Taylor, Christopher and Gerald Miller, the advance of Bahrainis 4 / 0 and 10/10 second multiplier, and faced with Zain, which was adopted at the outset Sam Douglas , Enver Soobzokov, Rashim Wright, Adam Zahn and Roderick Riley - the difficulty in reducing the movement of Christopher Taylor and Riley made two mistakes and Zan personal early. Portuguese coach Mario Palma replaced them with Ayman Dais and Zaid Al Khas, the two teams drew for the first time 10/10 with a perfect shot from Rashim and Dais made the second time the pans to 15/15, and had a three by Douglas made Zain in the Introduction, for the first time 18/17, and the exchange of Dais and Ahmed Mahmoud penetrate directly through the registration and the first quarter ended with a draw 22/22

There has been a remarkable improvement in the performance of Zain's after the participation of Wesam Alsos,Fadel Najjar, Musa Al-Awadhi along with Dais and Alkhas, who took to respond to Christopher Taylor repeatedly, and the three by Alsos made Zine in the introduction again, and after his return Zan record on the court and was joined by Mohammed Hamdan, Rashim dip violently, despite the three-points by Mohammed Hussein, but that ended the first half ahead 43/39 for Zain. Manama returned to the Cavaliers made the follow-up to Christopher and Ahmed, but Zain, who followed the defense managed to hold on after the Rashim, Enver and Douglas had basket from beyond the arc and Riley and Rasim, and Zan scored from under the basket to end the third quarter for the benefit of 65/58 for Zain

In the decisive quarter, gracious Dais investment many free throws and three-points by Rashim which Taylor is sometimes reply on them, but the weakness of the follow-up enabled the defense under the basket to reduce the difference of Manama, before the record of Hamdan and Douglas made Zain out as a winner by eight points 85/77
