Sam Daghlas

Sam Daghlas was born on Sept. 18, 1979, and started to play the game of basketball at the age of 14. His love for Basketball begun during a visit to his local playgrounds. From that point he was not only hooked on the game but also understood the dedication required to be a successful basketball player.

Sam was a very competitive player in high school, as he moved up to the ranks of varsity in his first year. In the last 3 years of his high school career Sam took his team to the playoffs and finally to the CIF Championship game by his junior year.

His high school career was not only an experience of a life time but also a milestone towards greater thing to come.

During his initial college years an injury form an automobile accident as well as some family financial hardships created some challenging times for Sam, However, through hard work and perseverance he was able to overcome his challenges. Afterwards Sam met a friend helped him get involved with a traveling team called HIGH FIVE AMERICA. Where Sam met and played for Coach Jean Heallker who taught Sam how to improve both on the court and off the court. From the day they met Coach Hallker put Sam on hard, twice a day, every day regimen to get him back into the game. Sam hard work on improving his skills reflected in his jr. college team winning tournaments and landing him an MVP award.

After receiving a scholarship to attend Midwestern State University, Sam realized the benefits of getting his education, as well as, the experience of playing with other skilled players and being coached by pro basketball players. This earned him the mutual respect of his peers and his coaches. After playing at Midwestern Sam decided to enter the summer pro league where he was ready to take the big step towards a career at pro basketball. Unfortunately, Sam again was faced with a life changing experience that kept him away from the game for 4 months. His recovery period gave Sam the time to self reflect about his goals and aspirations. A decision was to never give up never say “I can’t.”

Sam’s Pro basketball career started in 2003-2004 season where he took a chance on a new team called Fastlink sports club in the country of Jordan. Coming into this club he didn't know what to expect but knew he was on a mission to be the best point guard. Sam won over Jordan fans by exposing them to a new style of playing the game in general as a Point Guard. Sam’s involvement with Jordan’s team resulted in a unbeatable season and once again a 2006 PRO MVP and Asia Cup 2006 Championship as the icing on the cake.

Sam Came back to the US to entertain tryouts for Pro American teams like the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns and afterwards he greatly contributed in securing the 2007 League Championship for the FastLink.

Throughout all his years Sam experienced many ups and downs that could have broken him down, but strongly thanks God for testing him. If given the chance to change his past, Sam wouldn't change anything. In Sam’s word “I love everything god had me go through because all of it made me the Sam Daghlas I am today. I am Strong, passionate, a hard worker, a leader, optimistic, patient, persistent and always believing in great destiny.
