وبحسب ما أفاد به الأمين العام المساعد للاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة السلة اللبناني هاكوب خاجريان، فإن ممثل الأردن وقع في المجموعة الثانية التي تضم الى جانبه كلا من العربي القطري والوصل الإماراتي ويانغ كييجر الهندي والفريق المضيق ساتيرا مودا الأندونيسي، أما المجموعة الأولى فتضم كلا من الرياضي اللبناني ومهرام الايراني وسانغ مو الكوري الجنوبي وسمارت جيلاسي الفلبيني والقادسية الكويتي
ووفقا للقراءة الفنية الأولية فإن زين مرشح لتصدر فرق مجموعته في الدور الأول، مما يعني انه في حال طابقت الترشيحات سيتواجه في الدور ربع النهائي مع رابع المجموعة الأولى، وستكون مهمته أسهل بكثير من غيره للوصول الى نصف النهائي
ويتطلع نادي زين من خلال المشاركة في بطولة آسيا الى استرجاع لقبه بطلا للقارة والذي كان قد أحرزه في العاصمة الكويتية في شهر أيارعام 2006، كما يتطلع اتحاد كرة السلة من خلال منافسة زين الآسيوية إلى رسم التشكيلة النهائية التي سيبدأ من خلالها المنتخب مشوار التحضير لبطولة آسيا المؤهلة لكأس العالم
وكان زين أرسل عن طريق اتحاد كرة السلة قائمته الأولية المكونة من 24 لاعبا إلى الاتحاد الآسيوي لتثبيت مشاركته في البطولة التي تقام خلال الفترة من 12 الى 20 أيار (مايو) المقبل
وتضم قائمة زين كلا من أسامة دغلس وانفر شوابسوقة وفرانسيس عريفيج وفضل النجار ومحمد حمدان وخلدون أبو رقية وموسى بشير وجمال المعايطة وزيد الخص وعلي الزعبي ومحمد شاهر، فضلا عن اللاعب المجنس راشيم رايت والمحترفين الأجانب رودريغر رايلي وآدم سميث وانتيريو ليت، ولاعبي المنتخب المغتربين في الولايات المتحدة جمال أبو شمالة وعماد قحوش
كما تم تضمين القائمة لعدد من اللاعبين المحليين المعارين باسم المنتخب الوطني، وهم: وسام الصوص وحسام لطفي (الرياضي) وأيمن دعيس وابراهيم بسام (الأرثوذكسي) وزيد عباس واسلام عباس (التطبيقية)، ومعلوم أن هذه القائمة ستتقلص الى 12 لاعبا قبل انعقاد الاجتماع الفني للبطولة الشهر المقبل، حيث أن التعليمات الآسيوية لا تسمح بتسجيل سوى لاعبين اجنبيين فقط، ويعتبر اللاعب المجنس أجنبيا
ويستعد زين حاليا ضمن معسكر داخلي لتحد آخر وهو الدفاع عن لقبه بطلا للعرب، حيث سيشارك مع وصيفه المحلي العلوم التطبيقية في بطولة الأندية العربية المقررة في العاصمة اللبنانية بيروت خلال الفترة من 25 نيسان (ابريل) الحالي وحتى 5 أيار (مايو) المقبل
ويستهل زين المنافسة العربية، في الدور الأول ضمن المجموعة الثانية، بمواجهة الكهرباء العراقي ثم المجمع الجزائري ثم المنامة البحريني، فيما يلتقي العلوم التطبيقية ضمن المجموعة الأولى مع طنجة المغربي ثم العربي الكويتي ثم الهلال السعودي
وتسمح البطولة العربية لكل ناد بإشراك 3 لاعبين أجانب، فيما يعتبر اللاعب المجنس محليا طالما أنه يحمل جواز سفر رسميا يعود لبلد الفريق الذي يمثله
